Back in 2009 I was unable to resist this top, so I had to make it my own. I wanted a fretless 5-string, so that's what I asked Roscoe to turn the top into! They created a fabulous instrument which was everything I wanted and more... right up until I switched back to playing 4-strings about a year ago. I didn't immediately put my 5-strings up for sale because I knew I might eventually go back to 5's. But my 4-string conversion has held long enough that I've decided it's time to sell my 5-string and move into a 4-string fretless.

In terms of condition, I would call this mint but for two things. The first is I've tinkered with the electronics several times, trying different pickups and preamps. I ended where I started with pickups (the Roscoe Barts), and the preamp is currently an Aguilar OBP-3. The second thing I did was strip the neck and apply a tung oil and wax finish. The neck is super smooth a fast now, which I love. Other than that, the bass is mint. No major or minor dings to report, and it plays phenomenally well.

New, this bass sold for $3990. If I were to order a new one like it today, it would cost $5825. I'm asking $2999 OBO. No trade offers, please. I plan to order a custom 4-string fretless to replace this bass, so I'll need cash.

I'm happy to add further incentives if that would help make your decision to buy easier. I'll make you a stupid deal on any strings, pedals, amps, cabs, etc. that you might like to go along with this. The only restriction is that it has to be brands that I am allowed to discount (so no Bergantino, no Roscoe, no Lull, etc.). But Aguilar, DR strings, MXR pedals, etc. are all fair game.
